Just back from my first Burning Man experience in Black Rock Desert, Nevada. Wacky wondrous weeklong world of anything-goes.... LOVED IT. Back in touch with creaky rusted fun-lovin' parts of me previously buried in day-to-day. Love those parts. Though such a brief visit leaves me wanting more. Exactly when I started to release in play....it's back to work time.
A description of the event seems futile. My vocabulary sits cross-legged at the border of Black Rock City and waits for an art car to carry it in. Images found at http://www.burningman.com/ will supply a uni-dimensional eyeful; but without the heat of the day, the cool of the night, the everpresent taste of playa dust on your tongue.....
favorite moment #1: grilled cheese, pickles, and pop tarts at Dust City Diner and ensuing conversations with long lost sister waitress.
favorite moment #2: desert oasis mist tent nap with Burning Matt and visits with passers by
favorite moment #3: dancing to "Flogging Molly" at space shuttle Dan's camp
favorite moment #4: dancing to the spinnings of Dulce Vite at Opulent Temple with Kimberly and Felix
favorite moment #5: meeting David Windblock (6'10" arm span!) on the boom box at the temple burn
favorite moment #6: adventure driving with Dan, Kimberly, and Felix in dust storm (probably moved 200 yards, in a circle, in an hour)
favorite moment #7: the fabulous awfulness of being stuck on a "deep sea art tour" and the happy release from same
favorite moments#8, 9 and 10: The ongoing insidious moments of joy nudging my pessimism all week with the message: "there are far more funloving, creative, generous, loving, silly, passionate, non-conformists alive and well in this nation than you thought.......and you fit right in."
ps: check out album in facebook for more pics....
